The Bay Area Meat CSA has a new home! We've created an online network to help you cooperate with your neighbors to buy meat directly from local ranchers. From now on, updates and new resources will appear there instead of here. Join the network!

The Bay Area Meat CSA, a project of Slow Food Berkeley, is holding
a fabulous, festive, collective-meat-buying and social-networking fête at
Leo L. Cotella Produce. Come, buy a box of mixed cuts from two cows
raised locally, talk to the ranchers who raised them and meet neighbors of
yours who might want to go in on buying good, sustainable, happy meat
with you in the future.

We’ll be selling 10 lb. boxes of delicious local meat raised by Seth Nitzchke
of Open Space Meats and James Rickert of Prather Ranch. You can also
expect homemade sauerkraut, sustainable wine and live entertainment.

Bring your friends, your families and your checkbooks!

(No preordering, please. All meat will be frozen for easy transport and
longevity.)

CSA folks: Stay tuned for information about BAMCSA in its new format, which will be launching in early January, if all goes according to plans. Currently, Slow Food Berkeley plans to hold seasonal bazaars of local meat, bought as whole animals and divided into boxes of varying sizes. We'll still have centralized pick ups, and delicious, locally, sustainably raised meat, but you won't have to pre-order! Plans to create a link from this or the Slow Food Berkeley site where people can connect with neighbors to purchase whole animals chug along--read: I haven't done anything about it--but eventually, we'll have a good social networking capacity set up. In the meantime, try one of these great CSAs that the format of BAMCSA, valiantly shaped by Bonnie Powell and me (Tamar) way back when, helped to create:

The UC Davis/Sonoma Direct club

The Marin Sun Farms meat buying club

Clark Summit Farms Meat Buying Club

And we'll get in touch soon!
